EMV (Europay, MasterCard & Visa) migration from magnetic stripe to smart cards is now underway
in many countries worldwide.
This has been mandated by a liability shift where the liability for any fraudulent activity will shift in to
the non-EMV compliant party - merchant or issuer - for all transactions.
EMVCo has established the terminal Type Approval process to create a mechanism
to test compliance
with the EMV Specifications. Type Approval provides an increased level of confidence that
interoperability and consistent logical behavior between compliant applications have been
achieved.
Our team is well versed with the EMV Level 2 Type Approval process which tests compliance with
debit/credit application requirements as defined in the EMV 2000 version 4.0 specifications.
